  I got one report today that last night it was under direct threat by fire, however, the fighters were able to hold the fire from coming over the hill crest. Orr is closed for the time being. Does anyone have more info?

    ...as a Mendo local, there have been no report of any damage to the Springs. Orr Springs Road is now reported open to traffic for the past 2 days.
    
    I have not spoken with any employees directly, but the County site implies that the resort is safe, for now.

  This is a really great link with a satellite map of burning areas, posted by a former firefighter, although it still is not clear if Orr Hot Springs is burning.

    As far as we locals know...Orr and Montgomery Woods are not lit up...right now. Greenfield Ranch which is half way from Ukiah to Orr is doing much better with containment as well.

    I had a reservation there on june 23 which was when they were evacuated.
    i called them monday to see what was happening and their msg said they were closed til friday july 11, but not under direct threat.

      Well, Montgomery Woods did get a bit scorched per the local rag, but they called the burn "beneficial."
      Good news: from what I've heard is that the resort is safe, the road is open, and fires in the county are reported at 45% contained.
      Then again it was 108 in Ukiah today and is expected to stay that way until at least Friday...and that is not a helpful ingredient in fire prevention.
      Let's cross our fingers and toes.

      ...as you may or may not know, this week, the answering machine message from Orr states that due to poor air quality, the resort will not be open until 12 noon on Friday, July 18.

      I say once they open the gate, we support the place as best we can. Deal?

          Let me know when in Augusto. We can use it as a lame-o excuse to noodle a bit more (we're usually up once a week) You are also invited to some local music and you can experience the Ukiah that you've always dreamed about ;-p

  This directory was set up as a community service, though alas there is no paid staff to keep current so volunteerism from the community is needed. Just use the pull down menu... Orr is listed organically along mountain ranges and access (rather than by local habit), as "California Central West".
