Has anyone tried the Creek House?

I'm expecting to take a large group (approximately 16 people) up later this year... How do people like the Creek House? Where is it in the area, and how does it compare with the older large cabin (#17)?

Orr still struggling after fires needs your patronage!

As a frequent visitor to Orr springs, I just found out that they will be temporarily (let's hope) closing for tuesdays, wednesdays and thursdays. My understanding is that this sad state of affairs is due to inadequate patronage. It seems that attendance has been weak since the fires last summer. Some people still even seem to think that it burned down! The fires did come very close, but nothing at the springs burned, and you'd have to look close to see that there were fires in the area at all. The closures at the time were due to heavy smoke and by request of the fire fighters. This decrease in patronage must be coming at a bad time after what must have been very expensive, but very necessary, renovations last year. So, visit Orr and bring a friend!

The Woods

I'm heading up to Orr tomorrow (yippy!). Does anyone know if the hikes near Orr in Montogmuory (butchered that one!) Park are intact? The Park's web site says the park is partially open, I'm just not sure if the part near the Springs is open, and if it is, how open. We like to hike and if we could, that would be great.

If it is closed in that area, are their any other nice hikes near Orr?

Greetings all! My wife and I just spent a 3 nights at Orr...our first visit since the construction was completed. The renovation is really tasteful, and the two tubs atop the new sundeck are great for night soaking. If the floating thermometers can be trusted, the water entering the outdoor tubs is 113 F. The tubs themselves varied from 107 in the morning to 104 in the afternoon. Sauna and steam wre working perfectly. All of the private tubs have water pretty much just as hot as the water going into the big tubs. Montgomery Woods were as lovely as ever. Only one down for the whole trip...not one single salad spinner in the kitchen?! We always eat big salads, and had to spend a lot of time shaking the wash water off of our salad greens! Peace. THere's Santa Rosa, but that's almost a little too soon on the drive from SF to Orr....

I just went there last week and really enjoyed #6. It is to the left of the massage area and quite secluded. Only downside is that it is a tad bit far to the communal bathrooms.

Hi all...
I'm thinking about visiting Orr the first full week in March. Could someone give me some input about what the accomodations are like? I'm hoping to get some reading and writing done for my dissertation, so I'd like a place that's somewhat quiet. It doesn't need to be monastic, but I don't need a place that's particularly loud.

Is it true that there are no provisions for showering? A week without a shower ain't exactly my idea of a good time.

Any help would be welcomed.

I'm going up in March with a group of 6 to 8... It's been a few years since I went with a large contingent, but we used to love that big house with the kitchen they had up the hill. I hear that it's been converted to staff space or something now.

What kind of group spaces do they have available nowadays?

Can someone tell me how the camping is at Orr? I've only been there once and stayed in one of the cabins. I'm thinking of going back sometime in the next month and am curious about price for camping and how nice the camping in general is. I can't imagine anything at Orr being anything but wonderful but I'd like to know ahead of time.

Hello! so, i just made a reservation at Harbin, and after hanging up the phone, i thought, why don't i go to Orr instead? I like it much better, except for the price and the longer drive. However, I do recall it being pretty chilly at night, even when I went last August. will i freeze?
